The 2020 Taiwan Lantern Festival will soon take place from February 8 to 23 in Taichung, and the main lantern area will be set in Houli Forest Park. The main lantern, “Guardian Tree of Taiwan,” has been fully installed and it now awaits to impress visitors during the festival period. All other preparations are being made, and an official main lantern installation ceremony will be held at a chosen auspicious hour on the festival’s inauguration day. The festival will be unveiled among prayers and rites in hopes that it will take place joyfully and peacefully.
With 30 years of solid experience, the 2020 Taiwan Lantern Festival presents art, design, lifestyle, and new technology at once, whilst basing itself on traditional culture. In fact, Taichung has hosted a few international events, such the World Flora Exposition and the Taiwan Lantern Festival before, right at Houli Forest Park. Inspired by the World Floral Exposition as a “seed,” “Guardian Tree of Taiwan” integrates natural landscape and light projections, allowing people to explore the lantern installation instead of just watching it from afar. “Sounds of the Blossoms,” a famous mechanical device of the flora expo, is also on display again, as if speaking to the Guardian Tree. Bringing light in, the main lantern area manifests the lively, unique charm of Taichung.
