慈雲寺建於1919年，因阿里山山水秀麗、靈氣匯聚，與印度靈鷲山的聖地意象相似而興建。寺內供奉釋迦牟尼佛像，外層以銅鑄工藝打造，內部以金砂妝飾，展現莊嚴肅穆的佛教氛圍，佛像更有著「千年古佛」之稱。
