為讓遊客欣賞大片芒花壯闊盛開之景，感受草嶺古道那段跨越百年山海時光長廊的記憶，自2002年開始舉辦，每年度總吸引約8萬人次遊客前往欣賞滿山芒花搖曳的迷人風采，近年來已成為東北角地區觀光旅遊品牌活動。
